Wheel Loaders Plug into Electric Demand
The world’s largest manufacturer of wheel loaders, Chinese company LiuGong, has shown its latest battery-electric machine for the global market.
The LiuGong 856H-E Max wheel loader is part of the company’s range of electric construction vehicles. Its electric range has already proven its reliability in the field with more than 2000 electric wheel loaders in operation around the world.
The 856H-E Max is suited to work sites where traditional combustion engines either are not permitted or in fixed-site operations that have access to a charging infrastructure.
Electric technologies can make sense for operators, with environmental benefits along with a competitive total cost of ownership. The 856H-E Max consumes zero fuel, produces zero emissions, and creates significantly lower noise and vibrations.
Its features include load-sensing hydraulics, an EAT700 transmission with an electro-proportional valve for fast, smooth shifting, and independent control of the dual-motor drive for maximum hydraulic lift.
It has a rated load capacity of 12,787 lb (5812kg) and an operating weight of 46,297 lb (21,044kg) and its standard bucket is rated at 3.5 cubic metres.
LiuGong’s ‘intelligent auto digging system’ automatically carries out repetitive digging cycles to reduce operator fatigue. Its electric control box also improves transmission efficiency compared to conventional machines.
The vehicle was designed around the operator to provide the highest levels of safety, visibility, and comfort. Its cab has full ROPS protection and significantly reduces dust and noise contamination.
Its reliability is also reinforced by the IP67-rated wiring harness and waterproof integrated battery package. All of that is backed by a standard five-year or 10,000-hour warranty for the battery, motor, and controller.
Powering the 856H-E Max is a 432kWh large-capacity lithium-ion phosphate battery from world-leading battery manufacturer CATL.
The machine is capable of 10 hours of working time for light applications and eight hours for heavy applications. It also features an intelligent battery management system that can be fast charged in 90 minutes.
The electric range for Australia started when LiuGong launched its 856H-E wheel loader, scissor lifts and excavators to coincide with the opening in May this year of its new 4000sq.m spare parts and warehouse facility in Melbourne.
It builds on success for its conventional equipment range. In Australia, one of the biggest markets for the brand is Western Australia with customers including shires and farmers.
The state was also seen as being popular for buyers of wheel loaders in the 10-tonne to 20-tonne range.
LiuGong entered the Australian market in 2004 and the opening of the new Melbourne building recognises the sped of the brand’s acceptance in the Australian and New Zealand markets.
